Statoil ASA and Schlumberger Information Solutions (SIS)

Trondheim and London, respectively, have announced a three-year collaboration agreement to develop new production optimization technologies to extend the life of oil and gas fields. Field tests will be conducted in fields with smart wells, instrumented wells, and a high-quality communication infrastructure. Statoil will identify and execute pilots on the Norwegian continental shelf.

Statoil is an integrated oil and gas company with over 25,000 employees and activities in 31 countries.

Houston, has announced the appointments of Denby Auble as chief operating officer, Patrick Ng as vice-president of reservoir imaging, and Gary Fair as general manager of production enhancement reservoir seismic operations.

Houston, has announced executive reorganization following the retirement of chief operating officer John R. Blocker Jr. The duties of chief operating officer have been reassigned among the company’s vice-president-Eastern Hemisphere operations, vice-president-Western Hemisphere operations, and vice-president-engineering and technical support, all of whom report directly to president and CEO Louis A. Raspino.

London and Houston, has announced the appointment of George Bright as chief executive officer. Bright formerly served the company as chief operating officer, and replaces retiring CEO, Peter Close.

Additionally, Nicholas Stone, finance director, will assume the role of operations director, and new-hire Kirk R. Novak has been named executive vice-president of business development for the Americas.

Conroe, Tex., has named Ed Smalley as senior vice-president. Smalley has over 25 years of experience in the exploration and production industry. He was business development director for the Gas Technology Institute prior to joining CTES.

CTES LP, a National Oilwell Varco affiliate, designs software and data acquisition equipment for coiled tubing, wireline and drilling operations.
