Lincoln Electric Co.

Cleveland, Ohio, has announced the appointment of Phillip Wittke as global director of offshore development. He will be responsible for developing and managing Lincoln’s involvement in the offshore drilling and construction industries.

Wittke has more than 24 years of experience in the welding industry. Since joining Lincoln Electric in 2001, he has served as managing director for Greater China. He earned an MBA degree from Henley Management College, Brunel University, London.

Lincoln Electric Co. is a leader in the design, development, and manufacture of arc welding products, robotic arc welding systems, and plasma and oxyfuel cutting equipment.

Wärtsilä Automation Norway and Emerson Process Management

Rubbestadneset, Norway, and St. Louis, Mo., respectively, have formed an alliance to deliver high-performance power plant and process automation systems for FPSO vessels, incorporating technologies from both companies.

Wärtsilä Automation Norway was formed in March 2006 after the acquisition of Aker Kværner Power & Automation Systems AS. The company provides electrical power and automation systems, and supply products and systems to oil and gas, marine, and land-based industry sectors.

Emerson Process Management combines products and technology with industry-specific engineering, consulting, project management, and maintenance services.

Schlumberger Ltd.

New York, has announced its acquisition of Ødegaard A/S. The Copenhagen-based company will become part of Schlumberger’s WesternGeco.

Ødegaard A/S supplies advanced surface seismic data inversion software. The company specializes in applications of seismic data to determine rock parameters critical to better reservoir characterization and improved oil and gas recovery.

Schlumberger Ltd. is one of the world’s leading oil field services companies, supplying technology, information solutions, and integrated project management to optimize reservoir performance for customers in the oil and gas industry.

Wichita Clutch

Wichita Falls, Tex., has acquired additional disc brake technology with the purchase of UK-based Twiflex Ltd. by parent company Altra Industrial Motion.

Twiflex Ltd. is a 60-year-old company specializing in the design, manufacture, and supply of advanced braking technology, including its MR caliper brake.

Wichita Clutch, founded in 1949, is a leading supplier of brakes and clutches for drilling and service rigs worldwide. It is owned by Altra Industrial Motion, a leading designer, manufacturer, and marketer of mechanical power transmission products. Headquartered in Quincy, Mass., Altra operates production facilities in the US, UK, Germany, France, and China.
