BHP Billiton names group president, energy

J. Michael Yeager has been appointed BHP Billiton Ltd.’s group president, energy. He succeeds Phil Aiken, who will retire at the end of the year.

Prior to joining BHP Billiton, Yeager served as vice-president, ExxonMobil Development Co.

Noble Corp. said it will name Mark A. Jackson chief executive officer. He will succeed James C. Day, a 30-year company veteran who will retire Apr. 30, 2007.

Jackson currently serves as Noble’s president and chief operating officer.

TrueStar Petroleum Corp. has appointed Robert W. Troy vice-president, engineering. Troy has more than 30 years of upstream oil and gas line and executive management experience, including with Ocean Drilling and Exploration Co. and Consolidated Natural Gas Co. He has held management positions in petroleum engineering, oil and gas production, construction, pipeline, marketing, strategic planning, acquisitions, and information technology.

Petroleum Technology Transfer Council elected Gene Ames III as its chairman.

Ames, geologist and general manager for The Nordan Trust, San Antonio, formerly was with Venus Exploration Inc., San Antonio, for more than 10 years.

Cairn Energy PLC has appointed Rahul Dhir chief executive officer of its new Indian business, which is scheduled to become public in Bombay in late 2006 or early 2007.

Prior to joining Cairn, Dhir served as a Merrill Lynch managing director and cohead of energy and power investment banking. A reservoir engineer, he also has worked at SBC Warburg and Morgan Stanley.
