Houston, has appointed Don McKenzie as president and chief executive officer of M-I Swaco, replacing Loren Carroll.

Houston, has appointed Don McKenzie as president and chief executive officer of M-I Swaco, replacing Loren Carroll.

McKenzie studied marketing administration at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Edmonton, Alta., Canada, and joined Smith International Inc. in 1989.

Smith is a leading worldwide supplier of premium products and services to the oil and gas E&P industry, the petrochemical industry, and other industrial markets. The company operates four business units: M-I Swaco, Smith Technologies, Smith Services, and Wilson.

OilCamp AS

Stavanger and Oslo, has been sold to the management team led by CEO Bjørn Munthe, and sales-marketing director Tom Rune Espedal, with financial support from Petroleum Networks Holding AS.

OilCamp AS delivers IT-based solutions for the oil and gas industry, with particular focus on remote operations. It operates SOIL, a secure, high capacity communication network for the oil and gas industry in Norway and the UK.

Schlumberger

Paris and Houston, has announced a new oil field research center in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The center, known as the Schlumberger Dhahran Center for Carbonate Research (SDCR,) houses a team of international scientists working on oil and gas industry projects in collaboration with other institutes, both in the Kingdom and worldwide. Activities will emphasize the carbonate reservoirs of the Middle East, but are expected to have worldwide application.

Acteon Group Ltd.

Norwich, Norfolk, UK, has appointed Kevin Burton to the newly created position of vice-president, technology. Burton has a BS degree in mechanical engineering, and has been with Acteon since 1995.

Acteon Group Ltd. is a group of specialist engineering companies serving the global offshore oil and gas industry. It focuses on technology with application between the seabed and the surface production facilities. Acteon companies include Menck, InterMoor, CIS, UWG, 2H Offshore, WellCut, Claxton Engineering Services, Mirage Machines, and Team Energy Resources.

TMK Sinara North America Inc.

Houston, has announced the appointment of Charles King as vice-president of sales, responsible for starting up the Houston office as sales and distribution point in the Americas for TMK tubular steel mill. King has 32 years of experience with leading steel mills, including Vallourec & Mannesmann, and Republic Steel.

The Houston-based office is owned by TMK Global, Zurich, an international trading company owned by the TMK Group, Moscow.

TMK Group is a steel company comprised of four tubular steel mills in Russia and one in Romania.

The company, the third largest pipe manufacturer in the world, manufactures a complete range of casing, tubing, and drill pipe for oil and gas drilling and production.
