Oslo, has announced the establishment of Aker Floating Production AS to address the growing demand for FPSOs.

Svein Olsen has been named chief executive officer of the new business unit, and Arne Hygen Tørnkvist will serve as executive vice-president and technical director. Both were formerly with Bergesen Offshore. Mikkel Martens is executive vice-president and commercial director. Aker ASA executive vice-president, Martinus Brandal, will serve as chairman of the board of Aker Floating Production AS.

Houston, has appointed Ian Edmonstone to the position of general manager, operations.

Canyon Offshore Inc., a member of the Helix Energy group of companies, offers a wide range of subsea services, providing ROVSV construction vessel, and ROV services to support offshore construction, drilling support, survey, engineering, inspection, backhaul repair, and maintenance. The company also provides flowline and umbilical trenching services, and submarine cable burial services. Canyon has operational offices in Aberdeen and Singapore, and a base in Viet Nam, in addition to its headquarters offices in Houston.

Berlin, has announced the opening of a new US East Coast operations center to better serve the North American market. Located on Long Island, NY, the center will be led by John J. O’Brien, North American business development and operations manager, and Israel Rivera, who will head the technical services center.

Johnson Matthey PLC

London, has announced its acquisition of Davy Process Technology (DPT) Ltd. from the UK arm of Russian Yukos Oil Co.

Johnson Matthey and DPT have a long history of technical collaboration and, together with Aker Kværner, form an alliance that provides turnkey solutions for methanol production, and other syngas-based processes.

Davy Process Technology Ltd. develops chemical process technologies and licenses them to customers in the oil and gas, petrochemical, and other industries.

Johnson Matthey PLC is a provider of specialty catalysts, precious metals, and chemicals.

Superior Wellhead Holdings Inc. and

Nautilus Marine Technologies Inc.

Houston, have announced the creation of Azura Energy Systems Inc. through the merger of their two companies and the acquisition of Gilmore Valve Co. Azura will focus on the manufacture and sale of wellheads, trees, and valves for the land and subsea markets.

Curtis Burton has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Azura. James Kiser will serve as general manager of Superior Wellhead, Ron MacInnes will head Gilmore Valve, and Earl Broussard will lead Nautilus.
