Saudi Aramco revealed a gas-condensate discovery in the Eastern Province 27 km off the southeast edge of supergiant Ghawar oil and gas field.

Midrikah-3 flowed 27 MMscfd of gas with 932 b/d of condensate with 5,414 psi wellhead pressure on a 12-in. choke from Permo-Carboniferous ‘Unayzah at 15,000 ft MD.

Sustainable production capacity of the well could be 50 MMscfd on a 1-in. choke, the company calculated.

Utah

Delta Petroleum Corp., Denver, plans to spud this summer the first of three exploration wells budgeted for 2006 on the Central Utah hingeline. The first well is to be an 8,000-ft test. Capital expenditure in the area is projected at $8-12 million in calendar 2006.

Meanwhile, the company plans to drill three prospects in the Paradox basin, all targeting unconventional reservoirs, at a total cost of $6-8 million. Activity should begin later in March.
