Armenia
Transeuro Energy Corp., Vancouver, BC, set up a website data room to disseminate information about its underexplored Block 2 operations in Armenia.
The company hopes attract farmees to drill exploration wells on the Kamir, formerly Oktemberian, prospect 65 km southwest of Yerevan and the Shorakpour prospect 15 km east of Yerevan (see map, OGJ, Aug. 19, 2002, p. 47).
Transeuro translated all Russian drilling reports to provide a concise history of mud losses, cementing, bit type, and casing, installed a geological workstation and uploaded the location and formation tops of 135 Block 2 wells and all available wireline logs, carried out extensive review of existing literature, created basemaps of Block 2, and determined tectonic history of the region.
A preliminary independent petrophysical report and analysis of the Kamir and Shorakhpur was prepared and the report confirms the presence of gas pay in the Kamir wells and oil pay in the Shorakhpur wells.
Cameroon
A unit of Kosmos Energy, private Dallas independent, acquired a 35% working interest in the 748,000-acre Kombe-N’sepe block south of Douala in the Douala basin coastal strip.
Kosmos and partners Perenco of Paris, operator with 40% working interest, and state Ste. Nationale des Hydrocarbures, 25%, will acquire 2D seismic data in late 2006 and will later drill an exploration well as part of a multiyear agreement. The work is in pursuit of the underexplored northern extension of the late Cretaceous turbidite play that extends from Gabon to Cameroon.
Perenco will soon appraise the former Elf Aquitaine’s 1982 M’Via oil and gas discovery on adjacent acreage, Kosmos said.
Philippines
Forum Energy PLC, London, declared Libertad gas field commercial and plans to start production in 2006.
Gas from Libertad, in SC 40 on Cebu Island in the Visayan basin, is expected to generate as much as 2 Mw of electricity following a $2.5 million development program.
Forum’s interest is 66.7% in Libertad and the onshore Maya oil and gas discovery and other prospects on Jibitnil Island and in the Tanon Strait (see map, OGJ, Nov. 19, 2001, p. 46).
Libertad is the first field to be declared commercial in the Philippines since Shell’s Malampaya gas field came on stream in 2001.
Texas
East
Goodrich Petroleum Corp., Houston, is completing an apparent Cretaceous Travis Peak discovery in Nacogdoches County and finished two recompletions in Cotton South field, Nacogdoches and Angelina counties. The No. 2 Preston well encountered 520 ft of apparent gas-bearing Travis Peak sands and is under completion. TD is 13,328 ft.
The No. 3 Crossman recompletion tested at 530 Mcfd to 1.6 MMcfd from each of four Middle and Lower Travis Peak sands at 11,700-13,300 ft. All four zones are to be commingled.
The No. 4 Crossman is turned to sales at 4.7 MMcfd of gas from four Upper, Lower, and Middle Travis Peak sands at 10,642-12,589 ft.
Goodrich holds 40% working interest in the wells and 25,000 gross acres in the Cotton South area.
Wyoming
Gold Point Energy Corp., Vancouver, BC, acquired a 35% interest in and will become operator of the Kaycee Dome prospect in Johnson County 70 miles north of Casper. Six of seven previous boreholes on a surface anticline in 4 and 9-43n-82w had oil shows in Pennsylvanian Tensleep, expected to be 75-100 ft thick at 2,000 ft. Curtis sand at 400-500 ft is a secondary objective.
Seismic data are available, and Gold Point plans to acquire more seismic data and spud a well in the first half of 2006. This part of the western Powder River basin is four miles west of Cellars Ranch and North Fork fields, which have produced oil from Tensleep.
