Its built-in acoustic self-test function helps ensure that the microphone is functioning optimally. If the detector should fail, the detector will instantly give an error signal on the 4-20 ma analog output in the DCS system as well as on the digital communication interface of the detector. The unit is addressable through the RS485 serial communication interface, which makes it possible to set up and adjust the detectors from a distance, possibly lowering maintenance costs significantlythe firm points out.

The Observer is designed in solid stainless steel. It is ATEX and UL/ULC approved for hazardous environments onshore and offshore.

The ultrasonic gas leak detection technology is not affected by changing wind directions or fast dilution of the gas cloud. The ultrasonic gas leak detectors instantly detect gas leaks as small as 0.1 kg/sec in a radius as wide as 12 m from the leak source. The detection technology makes it possible to verify the detection radius while commissioning the detectors, thus verifying the entire system performance.
