Personnel Moves and Promotions: Anadarko president takes on chairman role

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. Pres. and Chief Executive Officer Jim Hackett will take on the additional role of chairman after Robert J. Allison Jr. steps down. Both changes will be effective Jan. 1, 2006.

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. Pres. and Chief Executive Officer Jim Hackett will take on the additional role of chairman after Robert J. Allison Jr. steps down. Both changes will be effective Jan. 1, 2006.

Allison, who will remain as an active director, was bestowed the honorary title of chairman emeritus.

Allison joined Anadarko Petroleum Co. in 1973. He was named president in 1976 and chief executive officer in 1979. In 1986, he was named chairman and chief executive officer of Anadarko Petroleum Corp. following its spin-off from Panhandle Eastern Corp.

Separately, the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists (SIPES) has installed independent petroleum geologist and president of Milagro Resources in Midland, Tex., David A. Eyler, president for 2005-06.

Raymond N. Blackhall of Houston was elected SIPES vice-president, and Michael N. Austin of Broomfield, Colo., SIPES vice-president of natural resources.

James K. Applegate of Lafayette, La., was elected SIPES secretary, and E. Bernard Brauer of Corpus Christi, Tex., SIPES treasurer.
