Alabama

A subsidiary of Dominion Exploration & Production Inc., Richmond, Va., completed a rank wildcat in nonproducing northeastern Alabama.

Cambrian Conasauga shale and Mississippian Floyd shale flowed 233 Mcfd of gas after frac at the Dawson well in 34-13s-4e, in St. Clair County 3 miles northeast of Ashville.

The flow was on a 3864-in. choke with 2 psi flowing tubing pressure from perforations at 5,206-5,592 ft, reports the Southeastern Oil Review, Jackson, Miss.

TD is 5,970 ft at the well, 60 miles east of Jasper field in the Black Warrior basin (OGJ Online, Nov. 4, 2005).

Washington

Torrent Energy Corp., Vancouver, BC, said its Cascadia Energy Corp. subsidiary hiked its land holding in the Chehalis basin of southwestern Washington to 115,000 acres.

This includes 100,000 acres under an agreement with a major forest products company and an approximately contiguous 15,000 acres acquired at a state lease auction earlier this month. Cascadia retains a right of first refusal for 2 years on another 265,000 acres held by the forest products company.

Cascadia said the Cedar Creek area “reflects an opportunity to evaluate multiple, previously identified geologic leads and coal seams in a known coal producing area of the Northwest which is very close to an existing interstate pipeline, gas storage fields, and strong markets for natural gas.”

St. Helens Energy LLC holds 40% interest with Cascadia.
