This new surge protector specifically is designed for four-wire, multivariable transmitters.

Now in one package, the TP24/7 promises to deliver protection without having to build two surge protectors into an enclosure. The TP24/7 consists of high-power, solid-state electronics, and a gas-filled discharge tube capable of diverting 10 kA impulses. The unit is encased in ANSI 316 stainless steel conduit housing, threaded for the common conduit. Versions are available for 12 in. NPT, 20 mm ISO, and G 12 in. (BSP 12 in.) threaded entries.

The TP24/7 features:

• Four wires protected, one pair at 12-24 v and one pair at 7 v (e.g., RS-485).

• Easy and direct mounting­-simply screw into spare conduit entry.

• FM, CSA, and ATEX approved.

• Parallel connection that avoids introduction of any resistance into the loop.

• 10 year product warranty.

Grounding is made to the local casing of the transmitter.

For hazardous area use, approvals for intrinsically safe and flameproof (explosionproof) operation are available, in all gas groups and apparatus temperature classification up to T4.

Where transmitters are used in circuits suited for Div. 2/Zone 2 installations, the TP24/7 can be added without affecting the safety level.

It is available in aluminum or 316 stainless steel construction. It is a one-to-one signal to output relay that, when used with a positioner-actuator, is designed to increase the stroking speed of control valves.

An integral bypass valve provides system stability while allowing normal positioner airflow and normal valve actuation with small input changes.

A soft seat sealing provides tight shutoff to reduce air use.
