Allis-Chalmers Energy Inc.

Houston, has announced its purchase of $15 million in equipment assets from Patterson Services Inc., a subsidiary of RPC Inc., and has changed the name of its casing and tubing subsidiary to Allis-Chalmers Tubular Services Inc.

The acquisition includes previously used hammers, tongs, lay down machines, and other casing and tubing handling and installation equipment.

Allis-Chalmers Energy Inc. provides specialized equipment and operations to install casing and production tubing, directional and horizontal drilling services, rental of heavy weight spiral drill pipe, and related oil field services, plus production services including installation of small-diameter coiled tubing and chemicals, and air drilling services to natural gas E&D operators.

ECL Group Ltd. and

RPS Group plc

both based in the UK, have announced that ECL has become part of the Energy Div. of RPS. The combined group will operate on a worldwide basis from regional offices in the US, Canada, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Australia. Management teams of both organizations will remain with the businesses.

ECL Group Ltd. is a large oil and gas technical consultancy, with expertise covering interpretive geology, geophysics, and reservoir engineering, integrated studies, valuations, equity support, plus operational management consulting for seismic data acquisition, wellsite geology, and asset management.

RPS Energy plc provides consulting services to the oil and gas, renewables, and nuclear segments of the energy industry.

Houston, has appointed gravity and magnetics specialist, Raffaela Heinbockel, to bolster capabilities of its divisional office in Dubai. Heinbockel earned master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Hamburg, and has worked in Dubai as a geophysicist and magnetics specialist. She will administer services for the LCT Gravity & Magnetics Div., including integrated interpretation, software sales and training, marine data acquisition, and data processing.

Fugro Robertson is part of the Fugro organization, which operates more than 80 companies in 55 countries, providing advanced surveying, seismic, oceanographic, meteorological, and positioning services.

Houston, has appointed Mike Reeves as vice-president and general manager of IntelliServ. Reeves will relocate to Provo, Utah, to assume responsibility for all operations of that group’s business.

Institut Français du Pétrole

Rueil-Malmaison, has announced that a former research director, Yves Chauvin, has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, along with two US university scientists, for development of the metathesis method in organic synthesis.

Advances enabled by Chauvin’s research have led to numerous industrial applications, such as the Alphabutol and Dimersol processes.

The Nobel Prize also highlighted IFP’s outstanding catalysis work and its staff as a whole.

The Institut Français du Pétrole is an independent research and industrial development, education and training, and information center active in the oil, natural gas, and automotive fields.

Medina, Ohio, has announced the promotion of Gerry Williams to vice-president of corporate projects. Additionally, Stefan Papenfuss has joined the company as senior vice-president of the Pipeline Services Group, and Gary Zellers has been hired as director of business development for the same group.

Williams, a 28-year Corrpro employee, has primarily worked in international locations including the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. He is a NACE accredited corrosion specialist.

Papenfuss and Zellers jointly bring nearly 60 years of pipeline integrity experience to Corrpro.
