Two new flowmeters for LNG, natural gas service

Here are two new flowmeters for cryogenic liquefied natural gas and natural gas service.

The Bundle Waveguide Technology (BWT) System with the DigitalFlow DF868 flowmeter measures LNG flow rate in pipe sizes of 2-48 in. The other meter, the new Sentinel, is a natural gas ultrasonic flowmeter specifically designed to meet the demands of high accuracy, fiscal custody-transfer measurement.

The BWT measures cryogenic flows of LNG at -161º C. (-322º F.) as it is transferred from liquefaction trains and tankers into storage tanks at production plants and receiving terminals. The BWT buffer, a collection of bundled cylindrical elements, provides a collimated pathway for the ultrasonic signal to travel from the transducer to its wetted tip for high accuracy and signal strength, the company says. The piezoelectric transducer elements are isolated from extreme temperatures or pressures by the buffer. The BWT buffer system causes no pressure drop and does not cause flashing in LNG service.

The Sentinel is used for metering natural gas fed to production liquefaction trains and regasified LNG at receiving terminals or for any natural gas measurement where high accuracy is needed, the firm points out. This unit is a multipath ultrasonic design available in pipe sizes of 6-48 in. and meets AGA 9 criteria. It is delivered as a complete system with matched upstream pipe run and flow conditioner.

New reinforcement for high-pressure pipe

New SE 2350 single-end Type 30 roving reinforcement for high-pressure pipe applications is suited for epoxy-based pipe uses that distribute oil, chemicals, and other corrosive materials.

It offers:

• A 10% increase in cyclical regression (stress) strength.

• A 41% increase in manufacturing efficiency and 35% reduction in rework costs, the company says.
