Serica Energy PLC, Toronto, was preparing a development plan after gauging the Kambuna-2 appraisal well in the Malacca Straits 45 km north of Medan, North Sumatra.

Perforations in Early Miocene Belumai sandstone at 7,278-7,342 ft ss flowed 17.5 MMcfd of gas and 1,500 b/d of 55° gravity condensate with 2,000 psi flowing wellhead pressure on a 4864-in. choke. Equipment capacity limited the flow rate. TD is 7,963 ft.

The 1985 discovery well flowed 13.9 MMcfd and 950 b/d of condensate.

Serica is operator with 55% interest in Kambuna-2 through the Glagah Kambuna Technical Assistance Contract. It operates the Glagah Kambuna TAC on behalf of itself and its partners, Duinord Asahan Petroleum Inc., Jagen Asahan Pty. Ltd., PT Gunakarsa Kambuna Energi, and Greevest Asahan Pty. Ltd.
