Olean, NY, has announced the acquisition of Tuthill Energy Systems (TES), headquartered in Burr Ridge, Ill., manufacturer of single- and multi-stage steam turbines and portable ventilators. TES’ steam turbine products are marketed under brand names Coppus, Murray, and Nadrowski. Dresser-Rand is acquiring TES operations in Burlington, Iowa; Millbury, Mass., and Bielefeld, Germany.

Dresser-Rand Group Inc. is a major supplier of rotating equipment solutions to the worldwide oil, gas, petrochemical, and process industries.

Global Technology Group (GTG)

Lafayette, La., has completed the purchase of New Horizons Computer Learning Center in Houston. Now operating as New Horizons/GTG, the acquisition bolsters GTG’s offerings that include managed IT services, contract IT personnel, and technical training.

The Houston New Horizons Center was part of the Anaheim, Calif.-based New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, named the world’s largest independent IT training company in 2004.

Global Technology Group was founded in 2002 to provide technology support solutionsfor service providers with mission-critical field operations in remote, harsh environments in the energy and defense markets.

Remora Technology AS

Stavanger, has announced the appointment of Tore Lea as CEO. Lea previously spent 13 years in a variety of management positions with Statoil.

Remora Technology AS is a company in the Hitec Industries Group.

Technip

Paris, has announced the merger of its existing North American offshore-upstream and onshore-downstream businesses into a new organization called Technip USA. The new company will cover the US, Mexico, Venezuela, and the Caribbean regions for offshore activity, and North America for onshore activities.

Larry Pope serves as chairman of Technip USA, and Luc Messier is president and CEO.

Technip provides engineering and construction services to the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries, manufactures flexible pipes and umbilicals, builds offshore platforms, and has a fleet of specialized vessels for pipeline installation and subsea construction.

Engelhard Corp.

Iselin, NJ, has announced its acquisition of Almatis AC, Inc., the alumina-based adsorbents and catalyst business formerly part of Almatis. The acquisition includes two manufacturing and product development facilities in Port Allen and Vidalia, La., and complements Engelhard’s portfolio of mineral and silica adsorbents and catalysts.
