Houston, has announced the appointment of Martin S. Craighead as president of Baker Inteq, succeeding Ray Ballantyne, who is retiring after 30 years of service with the company.

Craighead formerly was president of Baker Atlas. David H. Barr, group president of Drilling & Evaluation, will assume the additional responsibilities for Baker Atlas until a permanent successor for Craighead is found.

A Baker Hughes employee since 1986, Craighead earned a BS degree in petroleum & natural gas engineering from Pennsylvania State University, and an MBA from Vanderbilt University.

Baker Hughes Inc. is a leading provider of drilling, formation evaluation, completion and production products and services to the worldwide oil and gas industry.

V&M Tubes

Houston, has named Douglas A. Fields as general manager of marketing and development for its North America OCTG division. Fields previously was general manager of operations for V&M Star, the steel manufacturing arm of V&M Tubes North America, at its Youngstown, Ohio facility. Joel Mastervich has been named to fill Fields former position with V&M Star.

Fields has been with V&M Star (formerly North Star Steel) since 1982. He has a BS degree in electrical engineering technology from Youngstown State University, and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.

Mastervich joined V&M Star from Ispat Inland Steel Co., East Chicago, Ind., where he most recently served as vice-president of operations. He holds a BS degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

V&M Tubes, formed in a joint venture between Vallourec Group and Mannesmannröhren-Werke, is a leading producer of seamless hot-rolled steel tubes.

Dresser-Rand Co.

Olean, NY, has announced agreement to acquire certain assets of Tuthill Energy Systems (TES), a division of Tuthill Corp., Burr Ridge, Ill.

TES manufactures single- and multi-stage steam turbines and portable ventilators under the brand names Coppus, Murray, and Nadrowski. The company traces its beginnings to 1870.

Dresser-Rand Co. is among the largest global suppliers of rotating equipment solutions to the worldwide oil, gas, petrochemical, and process industries.
