Morris Township, NJ, has appointed David Sundin as field market development manager for its Spectra high-performance synthetic ropes business. Sundin brings more than 20 years of experience in the chemicals industry to the newly created position.

Prior to joining Honeywell, Sundin worked in the oil industry with Mid-Continent Steel Castings, Calumet Refining Co., Cooper Industries, and most recently as co-owner and president of DSI Fluids Inc. He earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Hendrix College, an MBA from DeVry University, and a doctorate in engineering from Clayton University.

Honeywell Specialty Materials is a global provider of high-performance specialty materials including fluorocarbons, specialty films and additives, advanced fibers and composites, customized research chemicals, and electronic materials and chemicals.

Wärtsilä

Helsinki, has opened a wholly-owned production venture in Wuxi, China, where it will manufacture transverse (bow or tunnel) thrusters used in vessels to help maneuver at low ship speeds. The plant, located about 100 km west of Shanghai, is named Wärtsilä Propulsion (Wuxi) Co. Ltd.

The company also announced a joint venture named Wärtsilä Qiyao Diesel Co. Ltd. that will manufacture generating sets for producing electricity on ships.

Wärtsilä Corporation has been manufacturing marine engines since the early 1940s, and propulsion systems since 1986.

Fugro Global Environmental & Ocean Sciences (GEOS)

Wallingford, UK, has named Jeff Coutts as managing director, replacing Ralph Rayner who has resigned. Coutts has been with the Fugro Group for over 25 years and has managed several of the Fugro operating companies.

Fugro GEOS provides oceanographic and meteorological services to the offshore and coastal construction industry, as well as to governmental organizations. Services include measurement surveys, real-time monitoring systems, weather forecasting, data modeling, and consultancy services.

PIC Group

Marietta, Ga., has announced the appointment of Matthew C. Runyon as chief operating officer. Runyon has over 10 years of experience in corporate financial management, serving most recently as chief financial officer for the PIC companies. He began his career with GE after obtaining his BS degree from North Carolina State University.

The PIC Group provides global service solutions to the energy industry, from petrochemical and refining to power generation.

Pride International Inc.

Houston, has announced the election of Louis A. Raspino to serve as president and chief executive officer and a company director. Most recently, Raspino served as executive vice-president and chief financial officer at Pride. He had previously worked for Grant Prideco, Halliburton, Burlington Resources, and Louisiana Land & Exploration Co.

Pride International Inc. is one of the world's largest drilling contractors, providing onshore and offshore drilling and related services in more than 30 countries.

Qserv

Aberdeen, UK, has promoted Garry Michie to general manager for its well services team. Michie has more than 19 years of experience in the wireline industry, and worked for Expro North Sea as the well test manager prior to joining Qserv.

Woking, UK, has appointed Rodney Chase as chairman. Chase spent 38 years at BP plc prior to joining Petrofac.
