New model predicts oil, synthetic mud densities A simple equation allows engineers to model downhole drilling mud densities for several types of base fluids.

Houston, has named John A. O’Donnell as president of Baker Petrolite, succeeding Edwin C. Howell, who is retiring after 30 years of service with the company. Richard L. Williams has been appointed president of Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids, filling the position formerly held by O’Donnell.

O’Donnell holds a BS degree from the University of California, and an MBA from Pepperdine University. He joined Hughes Tool Co. in 1975.

Williams earned an associates degree in petroleum technology from Lincoln College, and a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Phoenix.

DeepSea Engineering & Management

Epsom, Surrey, has launched a new division to offer deepwater monitoring and analysis service, and has appointed Ian Walker, former Sensa/Schlumberger manager of pipeline projects, to head up the new initiative. DeepSea Monitoring Solutions (DMS) combines the latest deepwater optical fiber monitoring systems with some of the most advanced modeling and analytical tools available.

Calgary, has appointed J. Blair Goertzen as president and chief operating officer. Goertzen joined Enerflex in August 2003.

Entrepose Contracting

Colombes, France, has announced its acquisition of a 25% interest in Geostock, a leading global designer and operator of underground oil and gas storage facilities, joining BP France and Total France as shareholders.

The investment will allow Entrepose to combine Geostock’s storage engineering skills with its own expertise in managing complex turnkey projects.

Entrepose Contracting is an independent group specializing in the design and construction of industrial projects in the oil, gas, and energy sectors.

Atlantia Offshore Ltd.

Houston, has made several additions to its staff. Tom Carr has joined the company as a project manager, Rick Khadimally as a project interface manager, Beau W. Toll and John R. Gommel as project controls managers, Malcolm J. Taylor as senior project manager, and Hardy Thomas as engineering project manager.

Carr has over 26 years of experience in offshore construction project management, design, installation of offshore facilities, floating facilities, pipelines, and platform removal.

Khadimally has more than 27 years of project management and project engineering experience for on- and offshore oil and gas, and with refinery expansion and maintenance projects.

Toll has over 25 years of marine owner representation and project, program, contract, and shipyard management experience.
