Field communicator expands

This firm's 375 Field Communicator now supports 82 additional FOUNDATION fieldbus devices and 50 more HART instruments for maintenance purposes.

It is compatible with more than 800 HART and fieldbus instruments from a variety of manufacturers.

The convenient portable tool is used to increase maintenance productivity and effectiveness by supplementing networked stations that access advanced on-line diagnostics.

The 375 intrinsically safe, ATEX-compliant portable communicator is rugged and reliable, meeting the demands of production environments, the company says. The backlight screen is easy to see even in dark areas. Navigation through test procedures using the large touch screen is even easier with the 375 than with the older 275, the company notes.

Candle filters remove submicron liquid particulate

For recovery of submicron mists, these candle filters (shown above), or fiber mist eliminators, remove 100% of 1 micron and larger liquid particulate. For particulate smaller than 1 micron, the manufacturer claims a 98% removal efficiency.

As the Western Hemisphere licensee for Begg Cousland Co. Ltd., Glasgow, Scotland, Amistco Separation Products, Alvin, Tex., provides replacement candle filters as well as engineered and packaged systems.

These filter systems effectively remove visible exhaust plumes in pollution control and acid containment applications, the company notes. Packaged systems are also used to improve air quality inside facilities such as compressor stations.

The Begg Cousland candle filter was originally developed in the laboratories of Imperial Chemical Industries PLC, London. Begg Cousland reports that these proprietary materials of construction have increased separating efficiency, lowered pressure drop, and in some cases both in a range of retrofit acid, gas, and oily mist control applications worldwide.

Amistco manufactures a full line of tower intemals, other mist eliminators, and components for mass transfer and separation.
