The Woodlands, Tex., has announced the appointment of Richard A. Byers as vice-president and treasurer. Byers has more than 30 years of finance and accounting experience, including nearly 23 years with Pitt-Des Moines Inc.

CB&I is a global specialty engineering, procurement, and construction company serving customers in industries including oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical, power, water and wastewater, and metals and mining. Projects include hydrocarbon processing plants, LNG terminals, peak shaving plants, offshore structures, pipelines, bulk liquid terminals, water storage and treatment facilities, and other steel structures.

Altma Group LLC

San Francisco, has announced the creation of its energy and power sector practice to provide crisis management, restructuring, reorganization, and other turnaround services. The new practice combines industry-specific expertise with its well-established corporate renewal capabilities. Russell Burbank, CTP, heads the Altma energy practice, which offers in-depth assessments and due diligence appraisals, hands-on operational management, commercial advice on performance improvement, restructuring and refinancing options, access to capital, strategic consulting, and interim senior executives to effect change.

BJ Services Co.

Aberdeen, announced that BJ Tubular Services has expanded its casing, tubing, and hammer services capabilities to the Gulf of Mexico market with the acquisition of Cajun Tubular Services Inc., Lafayette, La., a company that provides tubular running, testing, and torque monitoring services.

To compliment the Cajun Tubular Services acquisition, BJ also acquired the assets of Lafayette-based Petro-Drive, a division of Grant Prideco Inc. Petro-Drive provides hydraulic and diesel hammer services.

The combined Gulf of Mexico operation will be based in Broussard, La.

BJ Tubular Services specializes in personnel and equipment to run casing and tubing, particularly premium connections, high chrome content tubulars, dual, triple and subsea completions, as well as hydraulic hammer conductor driving services.

BJ Services Co. provides pressure pumping and related oil field services, operating in every major oil and gas producing region of the world.

Fugro-McClelland Marine Geosciences Inc.

Houston, has named Vladimir Rapoport as president of Fugro CIS. Rapoport, based in Europe, will oversee expansion of the Fugro service line for Fugro Project Ltd.-Moscow, Fugro Project Ltd.-Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, and Fugro Geostatika Co. Ltd.-St. Petersburg.

Fugro offers advanced geotechnical, surveying, seismic, oceanographic, meteorological, and positioning services globally, with offices in more than 50 countries.

Geomechanics International Inc.

Palo Alto, Calif., has announced the appointment of Patrick Keenan as president. Keenan, who has 29 years of experience, most recently was vice-president of business development at Core Lab.

Houston, has appointed Peter Rutledge as managing director of Knowledge Reservoir UK Ltd., based in Aberdeen. Rutledge previously had work experience with Core Lab, Scientific Software-Intercomp, Beicip-Franlab, and most recently Heinemann Oil Technology Engineering.

Knowledge Reservoir is a global energy consulting firm providing subsurface asset consulting services.

Verdisys Inc.

Houston, has elected David Adams as president and chief operating officer. Adams, who holds a degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas, previously has worked for Pennzoil, Transco, Baker Hughes, and Hydril.

Verdisys Inc. provides proprietary oil services and solutions for energy production enhancement, including patented lateral drilling technologies and secure satellite communications.

John Wood Group PLC

Aberdeen, has named Robert Crawford, currently CEO of Scottish Enterprise, as group head of strategy development and special projects.
