A new peripheral attachment system enables near-seamless attachment of a variety of market-specific peripherals, including magnetic stripe card and fingerprint readers. The system allows peripheral devices to be mounted not only on the right or left side of the monitor, but simultaneously on both sides if necessary.

Integral cable guides in the monitor case inconspicuously route peripheral cabling along the monitor and into the cable management area. The system also allows bundling of peripherals based on brand preference and market requirements. This offers value added resellers and end users maximum configuration flexibility when developing market or site specific solutions, while capitalizing on peripheral-specific brand value and feature sets. The system allows for quick, on-site replacement of nonfunctional peripherals, minimizing downtime and spare inventory requirements by allowing easy replacement of faulty components. The system also allows for easy upgrade of peripheral technology as it evolves, the firm notes.

The product offers an IPX-1 rating. To extend the enhanced market adaptability further, stereo speakers have been relocated to the display head allowing for full multimedia capability in ergonomic arm or wall mounted installations.

Mobile computing system tracks oil field maintenance

PaperlessEX 2.0 is a newly released mobile computing solution used to control and track inspection and maintenance of equipment located in refineries and offshore installations.

It's designed to help maintenance teams implement effective and efficient inspection strategies based on EN60079-17 standards.

Maintenance teams capture accurate data during equipment inspection and maintenance operations using handheld devices.

The firm says the data are easier to analyze and are instantly visible to those who need it. Inspection deviations in terms of defects found or schedule slippage are instantly visible, allowing prompt corrective action.

Links to maintenance management systems such as SAP and Maximo help ensure that PaperlessEX is synchronized with your business.

This latest release adds a flexible inspection strategy model to help maintenance managers control and track the inspection planning process.

Data captured during baseline surveys, campaigns, and periodic inspections become the basis for future inspection strategies.

Suited for fixed or adaptive inspection strategies, PaperlessEX helps ensure that the data are instantly at hand to help maintenance teams make better-informed decisions to changing conditions.

Expro acquires well tractoring business

Expro International Group PLC, Aberdeen, Scotland, has acquired the well tractoring business of SmarTract Inc., Houston.

The acquired business is to be called Expro Tractor Solutions.

The SmarTract unit is an electrohydraulic crawler-type tractor (see photo) that promises a reliable method of deploying tools in high deviation wells and horizontal wells on wireline, providing an alternative to drill pipe and coiled tubing.

Its ability to apply force either up or down in the wellbore also helps suit it for manipulating tubing-mounted equipment such as plugs and sliding sleeves.

Prestack seismic interpretation software

DecisionSpace Well Seismic Fusion is a newly released suite of interpretation and analysis tools for predicting reservoir rock properties from prestack seismic data, synthetic data, and well data.

The software is designed to leverage the information content contained in prestack seismic data to build earth models and more accurately predict reservoir lithology and fluids.

This technology provides an integrated interpretation environment enabling interpreters and other asset team members to improve reservoir understanding and reduce exploration risk, the firm says.

The software also is designed to generate prospects more rapidly and predict reservoir properties more confidently.

This company worked together with Statoil AS, Stavanger, Norway, to develop the integrated approach to prestack seismic data interpretation that is designed to help enable asset teams to achieve cross-discipline synergy and more accurately model and characterize reservoir properties away from the wellbore.

The software, built on the DecisionSpace platform, is integrated with SeisWorks work flows and OpenWorks data management, enabling interpreters to be more productive, reduce prospect generation cycle time, and provide improved risk assessment for complex prospects.
