American Cast Iron Pipe Co. (ACIPCO)

Birmingham, Ala., has been named one of "The 100 Best Companies to Work For." ACIPCO is the only pipe manufacturing company ever to receive the honor, and is the eighth time it has made the list.

Fortune magazine, sponsor of the list, cited a low turnover rate, and on-site health care facility as two of the noteworthy attributes of the company.

Founded in 1905, ACIPCO employs over 3,000 workers in 16 facilities. The company, including its American Steel Pipe Div., provides a range of pipe products to energy and other industries.

ABB

Norwalk, Conn., has announced that Dinesh C. Paliwal, head of its automation technologies business worldwide, has added the role of president, ABB Inc., in the US. He succeeds Donald Aiken, who is retiring. ABB operations in the US include development and manufacturing for technologies including control systems, robotics, drives and motors, instrumentation, low voltage products, transformers, and switchgear.

Grant Prideco Inc.

Houston, has announced the appointment of Matthew Fitzgerald as senior vice-president and chief financial officer. Fitzgerald is a certified public accountant, and had previous employment with Veritas DGC, BJ Services Co., Baker Hughes Inc., and Ernst & Whinney.

Grant Prideco Inc. is a global leader in drill stem technology development, drill bit technology, and manufacturing, sales, and service of drill bits, drill pipe, engineered connections, and premium tubulars.

Key Energy Services Inc.

Midland, Tex., has named Richard J. Alario as president and chief operating officer. Alario joined Key from BJ Services Co., where he served as vice-president since BJ Services acquired OSCA Inc., the oil field services company with whom he had been employed for over 21 years.

Alario replaces Francis D. John as president, and James J. Byerlotzer as chief operating officer. John will remain as chairman of the board, and Byerlotzer will assume the role of vice-chairman in charge of safety, training, and well service technology.
