J. Scott Zimmerman has been hired by Denver-based Evergreen Resources Inc. as the company's new vice-president, operations and engineering. Previously, Zimmerman worked for JM Huber Corp. as vice-president, energy sector, since 1982.

While working for Huber, he specialized in coalbed methane exploration and development in the Rocky Mountain region. Before joining Huber, Zimmerman served as a production engineer and reservoir engineer for BP PLC predecessor Amoco Production Co.

Evergreen Resources' main operations center on a coalbed methane project in the Raton basin in southern Colorado.

Cathy L. Tompkins has been appointed vice-president, information technology, for Ocean Energy Inc.

Tompkins was promoted to this new position after serving 3 years as director, information technology, and 5 years in other technical and management positions for the Houston-based independent.

Previously, she held positions during her 20-year professional career in marketing, applications management, and systems and programming with Cabot Oil Co., DCS Software & Consulting, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC, and Shell Oil Co.

Gerald A. Morton has been named senior vice-president and regional manager, Asia and Pacific, for Houston-based Pogo Producing Co.

Before joining Pogo in 1993, Morton worked with then-Texaco Inc. unit Texaco Research as a senior geophysicist and with the Houston office of the law firm Weil, Gotshal, and Manges.

While with Pogo, he has previously served as vice-president, law, and chief regulatory officer before being named to his current position.

Other US moves

Tengasco Inc., Knoxville, has named Richard T. Williams as chief operating officer and chairman of the company's executive committee. Williams was elected to Tengaco's board in June 2002.

Separately, Tengasco's board also approved the selection of Joseph E. Armstrong as chairman. He has worked for Tengasco since 1997 and as a director of the firm since 1998. Armstrong succeeds Benton Becker, who resigned for health reasons and other considerations.

H. Keith Kaelber has joined independent marketer and transporter of North American crude oil EOTT Energy Partners LP, Houston, as executive vice-president and chief financial officer. Kaebler has worked in the oil and gas industry within energy finance for 23 years.

Before joining EOTT, Kaelber served as president of nonprofit organization Indwell. Before that, he served as president, financial services, and senior vice-president and chief financial officer, for Dynegy Inc. predecessor NGC Corp.

Prior to his position with NGC, he served as executive vice-president, energy banking group, with NCNB Corp. in Texas, and senior vice-president, energy banking group, Republic Bank Dallas, later acquired by Nations Bank.

Outside the US

Dave Roberts has been appointed executive vice-president and managing director, Eastern Hemisphere, for BG Group PLC. Roberts joins BG from ChevronTexaco Corp., where he served as adviser to the vice-chairman. Roberts replaces David McManus, who has been named to the new position of executive vice-president, skill centers.

Before joining BG, Roberts served as director, strategic management, worldwide upstream, for ChevronTexaco predecessor Texaco Inc. Roberts has 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and has worked in areas of exploration, commercialization, and operations. Roberts has held various senior management positions with Texaco, focused on strategy, business development, operations, and performance management.

Sergio Gabrielli de Azevedo has been named financial and investor relations director for Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras), effective Feb. 1. Azevedo succeeds Joao Pinheiro Nogueira Batista, who is leaving the company for personal reasons.

Gabrielli, who was confirmed at Petrobras's board meeting Jan. 31, will report to Petrobras's recently installed president, Jose Eduardo Dutra.
