Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Stockton-on-Tees, UK, respectively, have forged an alliance to reduce maintenance costs and improve plant asset utilization by integrating plant data with management information, using functionality developed for SAP users.

Hoerbiger Compression Technology

Vienna, Austria, and Pompano Beach, Fla., has announced the acquisition of the Graflon Compression Technology Div. of Morgan Advanced Materials & Technology, St. Marys, Pa., and Capellan, Luxembourg.

The Graflon Div. manufactures and designs materials and components for rings and packing of reciprocating compressors. The acquisition encompasses production centers in Gosport, UK, now called Hoerbiger Rings & Packings Ltd., Graflon Div.; and in Houston and Odessa, Tex., now called Hoerbiger America Rings & Packing Inc.

Hoerbiger Compression Technology, member of Hoerbiger Holding AG, is a leading developer, producer, and supplier of valves and control systems for compressor manufacturers.

Reading, Berkshire, UK, has announced the appointment of Mike Martindale as chief operating officer. In his new role, Martindale combines his previous duties as director Eastern Hemisphere with those of director Western Hemisphere.

International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC)

Houston, has elected Marion Woolie, senior vice-president of operations for GlobalSantaFe Corp., as 2004 chairman; Ed Kautz, managing director of Caza Drilling, as vice-chairman; and Paul Bragg, president and CEO of Pride International Inc., as secretary-treasurer. Divisional vice-presidents named are Scott Gordon of Unit Drilling, Jurgen Sager of Transocean, and Ross Murphy of Apache Corp.

IADC also announced that it has been inducted into the Offshore Energy Center Hall of Fame as a technology pioneer for outstanding development of offshore safety programs. Permanent recognition of IADC's role will be displayed aboard the Ocean Star Rig Museum in Galveston, Tex.

Austin, Tex., has announced the appointment of Steven Delaney as vice-president of sales, and Clifton Currin Jr. as vice-president of business development. The two bring extensive risk management experience and chemical industry domain expertise to the ForwardVue team.

Delaney holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Western Michigan University, and has 22 years of experience in sales and marketing software and technology services.

Currin has bachelor's and master's degrees in chemical engineering from Cornell University, and an MBA from the University of Houston. He has 23 years of experience with Lyondell Chemical Co. and Equistar Chemicals.

Steigers Corp.

Littleton, Colo., has named David E. Rogers as vice-president and Alaska operations manager. Rogers will direct and develop Steigers' Alaska environmental permitting, regulatory, and project development consulting services business from its new Juneau office, and will establish and manage planned offices in Anchorage and Fairbanks. He has a BA in political science from the University of Michigan, and a JD from Wayne Law School.
