New Orleans, has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Tidewater Marine LLC, has promoted Richard "Monty" Orr to vice-president, international sales div.; and Christopher W. Orth to vice-president, domestic sales div.

Orr, a graduate of Stanford University, joined Tidewater as international sales manager in January 2001.

Orth is a Texas A&M University graduate, and has served as a marketing representative since joining Tidewater in July 2002.

IHC Caland

Schiedam, The Netherlands, has announced the purchase of Houston-based Ocean Design Associates. Ocean Design will merge with the recently established GustoMSC-USA Inc. and will operate under the name of GustoMSC-OceanDesign Inc.

GustoMSC-OceanDesign Inc. will serve the offshore industry with a wide scope of design and engineering services. Bui Dao is president.

IHC Caland is active in the design and engineering of mobile offshore units for drilling and construction. GustoMSC-OceanDesign joins SBMImodco Inc. and Atlantia Offshore Ltd. to become IHC Caland's third company based in Houston.

Aker Kværner

Lysaker, Norway, has restructured its operations to fit the current economic climate. Operations will be divided into six business areas: field development Europe; maintenance, modifications & operations (MMO) Europe; oil, gas & process international; subsea & oilfield products; E&C Americas; and E&C Europe. Chemetics and regional activities in Australia will report to E&C Americas; Asia Pacific regional activities will be included in oil, gas & process international; while Aker Kværner's shipbuilding activities will continue to be managed by the Aker Kværner Yards management company.

Three of the six new business areas will be managed from Houston. Jon Erik Reinhardsen, formerly head of the oil & gas business in Houston, has been appointed group executive vice-president. Group president/CEO is Helge Lund.

The Aker Kværner Group is a leading provider of project execution services, technology products, and integrated solutions to customers in a number of industries, including oil & gas, processing, environmental, and maritime.

Paragon Engineering Services Inc.

Houston, has announced the appointment of Richard L. Rankin as vice-president of midstream projects, charged with bolstering Paragon's presence in the emerging areas of liquefied natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, gas-to-liquids, gas-to-methanol, and compressed natural gas technologies.

Rankin earned BS degrees in mechanical engineering and aeronautical engineering from Oklahoma State University. He has over 27 years of experience in the industry, most recently serving as vice-president of Foster Wheeler USA's oil and gas division.

Paragon Engineering Services Inc. provides project management, engineering, design/drafting, procurement, construction management, inspection, and training services to the oil, gas, and pipeline industries.

Petrofac Ltd.

London, has completed acquisition of PGS Production Services, an Aberdeen-based operations and maintenance company.

Petrofac is a surface facilities solutions provider for oil and gas production, processing, and refining industries. The company has operating centers in Tyler, Tex.; Sharjah, UAE; and Woking and London, UK.

PGS Production Services is a leading provider of operations management solutions, maintenance, engineering and construction services to the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries.

Stabil Drill

Lafayette, La., has purchased LOR and its line of downhole drilling tools from Weatherford Inc. LOR's Lafayette facility will be kept, and the Corpus Christi location will merge with Stabil Drill's existing location there.

Stabil Drill, founded in 1986, is a subsidiary of Superior Energy Services Inc., which is a provider of specialized oil field services and equipment serving the production-related needs of oil and gas companies worldwide.
