Filter regulator designed for sour gas operations

The new Type-300 filter regulator is constructed of materials that meet National Association of Corrosion Engineers specification MR-01-75 for sulfide stress cracking.

It features:

  • Stable output and repeatability, providing constant control under variable flow rates and supply pressures.
  • All materials of construction meet NACE MR-01-75 requirements for corrosive resistance.
  • Low droop at high flow levels. Aspirator design helps maintain set pressure at higher flow levels.
  • Tight shutoff. A soft, rubberized valve provides a positive shutoff and compensates for dirt and other foreign matter.
  • Low air consumption.
  • Tapped exhaust that allows remote venting media.

The regulator is designed specifically for use in corrosive sour gas environments and provides instrument quality air to valves, pneumatic controllers, transmitters, transducers, valve positioners, air cylinders, and a range of pneumatic control systems.

Output ranges include 0-30, 0-60, and 0-100 psig. Maximum supply pressure is 250 psig. Standard mounting allows for pipe or through body. Temperature limit is a range of –20º to +180º F. (–29º to +82º C.). Flow capacity is 20 scfm at 100 psig supply with 20 psig output.

Exhaust capacity is 0.1 scfm with downstream 5 psig above set point. Air consumption is less than 5 scfh.

Effect of supply variation is less than 0.2 psig for 25 psig change. The unit weighs 1.6 lb.

New closure aids pipeline operations

This new Yale Figure 500L lugless unit helps make pipeline opening and closing easier and safer.

The lugless design utilizes a mechanical opening and closing tool that eliminates the temptation to hammer the closure open or closed. By reducing the possibility of damaging the closure, the 500L provides safer operation and a more secure pipeline, the company says.

It's suited for sweet or sour service as well as low temperatures and comes in 4 through 14 in. sizes.

A pressure alert valve (PAV) is standard equipment on all 6 in. and larger closures. Removing the valve stem from the PAV body warns the operator of any residual pressure in the vessel before the closure cap is loosened. Strong cap threads promise safety by allowing trapped pressure to bleed off while maintaining 90% thread engagement.

The closure accommodates most pipeline and vessel applications, with versions for horizontal, vertical, and angled installations. The field-weldable closure achieves an airtight seal with an elastomeric O-ring set into the face of the hub. Standard materials of construction conform to ASTM specifications and are permitted under ASME Section VIII, Division 1 Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.

New coating for refinery tanks

New Fast Clad edge retentive epoxy, an ultrahigh solids epoxy Bisphenol A amine coating, is suited for refinery tanks and petrochemical plant uses.

This rapid cure coating enables immersion service in 24 hr.

The coating allows rapid return to service and offers greater than 70% edge build retention for improved corrosion resistance, the company points out. When applied at 20 mils wet at 50% relative humidity, the 98% solids tank lining is dry to touch in 1 hr and can be walked on within 4 hr.

Designed for plural-component application equipment, Fast Clad is recommended for use over prepared steel surfaces.

New drilling rig mud pump

Here's the Mud Hog pump, a unit designed for fluid transfer and enhanced fluid movement in the mud systems of all types of drilling rigs.

The pump's high quality bearing configuration contributes to greater life expectancy through improved stability and lower vibration, the company says.

The wear pad and heavy duty mechanical seals help to improve the life expectancy of the casing and impeller, the firm adds.

Units are available with a 21/2 in. shaft and casing sizes of 3 by 2 by 13 in. through 8 by 6 by 14 in.
