Gonzalez previously held the position of vice-president of engineering and operations for Pegasus. LeBoeuf has over 24 years of experience in engineering for the global offshore oil and gas industry.

Cheltenham, UK, has announced the opening of a new office in Jakarta. The Indonesian base will serve as hub for the company's operations throughout Southeast Asia.

Westbury, NY, has appointed Troy Robinson as manager-turbine markets, Americas. Robinson studied mechanical engineering technology at Penn State University, and has worked as a process engineer, technical service manager, and sales manager before joining Sulzer Metco.

Sulzer Metco provides surface engineering solutions and services, offering a broad range of thermal spray, thin film, and other advanced surface technology equipment, systems, and materials.

Süd-Chemie Inc.

Louisville, Ky., has been given the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge award by the US Environmental Protection Agency. The award was received for developing a process for manufacturing solid catalysts that uses 16-20 times less water than traditional processes, without releasing nitrates into the environment. The award-winning process involves only two steps to form an oxide precursor from metal raw material, while past catalyst-producing processes needed four steps.

Grapevine, Tex., has been selected to be the marketing representative for the Oilgear Co., Milwaukee, Wisc., and its oil field subsidiary, OSL Offshore Systems.

Oilgear Co. is a provider of hydraulic and electronic components and systems to a wide range of industries. OSL Offshore Systems provides turnkey solutions for jacking systems, skidding systems, BOP and riser handling, as well as other power and controls systems specific to the offshore market.

Halliburton Energy Services

Duncan, Okla., has announced that Jiten Chatterji, a 36-year employee and chief research scientist at its Duncan Technology Center, has been named 2003 Innovator of the Year by the Oklahoma Bar Association Intellectual Property Law Section. The patent that gained the award for Chatterji covers a cement foamer, an additive for foaming and stabilizing a cement slurry. The foamer is used in primary cementing, as well as remedial cementing, operations in well bores where light weight cement slurry is needed to prevent excessive hydrostatic pressure from being exerted on subterranean formations penetrated by the well bore.

Chatterji has 98 US-issued patents and 17 applications pending. He holds a BS degree in chemistry, and an MS in organic chemistry from the University of Patna in India, and a doctorate in physical organic chemistry from the University of Wyoming.

Cleveland, Ohio, has appointed John M. Stropki Jr. executive vice-president and chief operating officer of the company. In his new position, Stropki will retain responsibility for North America operations that he has held since 1996. He earned a BS degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University, an MBA from Indiana University, and has been with Lincoln Electric for more than 30 years.

Lincoln Electric is a leader in the design, development, and manufacture of arc welding products, robotic arc-welding systems, and plasma and oxyfuel cutting equipment.

Furmanite International Ltd.

Cheltenham, UK, has appointed Ivor Roberts to the newly created position of vice-president and managing director, Asia and Far East. Tony Nicholls has been named managing director of the UK arm of the business, the post previously held by Roberts.

Roberts, based in Australia, will oversee Furmanite operations in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Japan, and with its licensees in South Korea, Thailand, and Indonesia.
