Turkey Amity Oil Ltd., West Perth, seems assured of a gas discovery in the Tertiary Danisman formation and also found gas in Oligocene Osmancik sandstone at its most recent Thrace basin wildcat. Adatepe-1, 6 km southeast of Gocerler gas field and 140 km west of Istanbul, vented gas from Osmancik at 1,543 m and cut gas pay in Danismen at 1,173 m. Four thinner secondary targets between 904 m and 1,173 m also proved gas bearing. Drilling continued toward planned TD of 1,700 m. Adatepe is a partly fault-closed anticlinal structure over which 3D seismic data showed amplitude anomalies coincident with structural closure, Amity said.
