Bois d'Arc Offshore Ltd., Houston, will evaluate the size of an apparent significant discovery on the northwestern part of South Pelto Block 22 on the federal gulf shelf.

The No. 2 well went to TD 18,869 ft and cut 520 ft of net pay in 11 reservoirs, mostly gas. It is in 58 ft of water about 30 miles southwest of Port Fourchon.

Comstock Resources Inc., Frisco, Tex., holds 29% working interest in the discovery. Bois d'Arc will complete the well, and the companies will determine the number of delineation wells and type of production facilities needed for development.

Lake Washington field production should return to 6,000-7,500 b/d around the end of April from 3,500 b/d in early April when barge transportation facilities are installed, said operator Swift Energy Co., Houston.

Swift plans to replace the oil pipeline and custody transfer unit that serve the field, in Plaquemines Parish just east of Barataria Bay, by early third quarter 2003 (OGJ, Nov. 11, 2002, p. 48).

Swift is running two rotary rigs and a completion unit in the field and has set casing on all nine wells drilled there since Mar. 12, 2003. Most of those wells targeted the 2,000-ft, A, D, and E sands, while recent wells went to the F sand and 8,400-ft sand. Production goal is 10,000 b/d by yearend 2003.
