BP PLC and Russian partners Alfa Group and Access-Renova (AAR) tentatively named an advisory board and senior executives to lead newly formed holding company TNK-BP following the company's anticipated formal establishment later this year.

BP PLC and Russian partners Alfa Group and Access-Renova (AAR) tentatively named an advisory board and senior executives to lead newly formed holding company TNK-BP following the company's anticipated formal establishment later this year.

TNK-BP will incorporate Tyumen Oil Co. (TNK) and Sidanco Oil Co (OGJ, Feb. 17, 2003, p. 34).

The advisory board is intended to serve as TNK-BP's board. Alfa Group Chairman Mikhail Fridman was chosen as advisory chairman.

BP Group Vice-Pres. Robert Dudley was chosen as TNK-BP's president and CEO, TNK Managing Director German Kahn was named executive director, and Sidanco Pres. Laurie Smyth was named chief operating officer. Decisions made by the advisory board are subject to review and approval once TNK-BP is formally constituted.

Upstream moves

Alan G. Quasha was elected chairman of Harken Energy Corp., Houston.

Quasha represents offshore investment firm Lyford Investments Enterprises Ltd., which recently closed its standby purchase agreement to become a holder of 62% of Harken's outstanding common stock.

Quasha succeeds Mikel D. Faulkner, who resigned effective Mar. 31. No reason was given for Faulkner's resignation.

Ryan Lance has been named president, Asia Pacific, exploration and production, for ConocoPhillips. Currently, Lance serves as vice-president, Lower 48.

Lance succeeds Bill Berry, who was named executive vice-president, E&P, at the start of the year.

In his new position, Lance will oversee the oil major's operations in Indonesia, Australia, China, and Viet Nam, as well as growth and new business development opportunities throughout Asia and Australia.

Lance started his career with ARCO in 1984, and held a number of engineering and operations positions in Alaska, California, and Texas.

Other moves

Rhonda I. Zygocki has been named vice-president, health, environment, and safety (HES), of ChevronTexaco. Zygocki currently serves as managing director of Perth-based ChevronTexaco Australia Pty Ltd.

In her new position, Zygocki will supervise the company's HES strategic planning and issues management, compliance and auditing, and emergency response.

Zygocki joined Chevron Canada Resources in 1980 as a petroleum engineer, working primarily in the company's Western Canada operations.

Holli C. Nichols has been named senior vice-president and corporate controller of Dynegy Inc. Previously, Nichols had served since mid-January as vice-president and interim corporate controller of the Houston-based energy firm.

Before joining Dynegy in 2000, Nichols worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
