Midland, Tex., has announced the appointment of Gary Wallace as vice-president of national sales. Wallace is a graduate of Eastern New Mexico University, and was director of the global business development group at Baker Petrolite prior to joining Key.

Key Energy Services Inc. is a leading oil field services provider. Its services include oil field construction; drilling, with a specialty in coalbed methane; workover services equipment; pressure pumping; fishing and rental tools; fluids; and trucking.

Compressco Canada Inc.

Calgary, has announced the opening of a full-service facility and the first international office for Compressco Inc., the Oklahoma-based manufacturer of the GasJack compressor. Named to manage the Canadian operations is Kevin Book. Book holds a BS degree in petroleum engineering, and has been instrumental in redesigning and modifying the GasJack compressor for extreme winter conditions and stringent Canadian regulations.

Compressco's GasJack compressor package is used to increase reserve recovery on older, marginal gas wells producing from permeable formations, to increase fluid production, or as first stage compression on gathering systems.

Diamond Products International (DPI)

Houston, has announced opening of new headquarters facility and its acquisition by NQL Drilling Tools Inc. of Nisku, Alta., Canada.

DPI is a leading polycrystalline diamond compact drill bit design and manufacturing business. It will continue to operate as a stand-alone unit with existing management and employees. The merger with NQL will increase the global presence for many of its products that have previously been unavailable in many markets.

NQL Drilling Tools Inc. provides downhole tools, services, and technology used primarily in drilling applications in the oil and gas, environmental, and utility industries.

Global Industries Ltd.

Carlyss, La., has appointed Richard Ward as area vice-president for Asia Pacific, based in Bangkok. Ward has over 30 years of experience in the marine engineering and construction industry, including 23 years with McDermott International. He received his BS in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University.

Global Industries Ltd. provides pipeline construction, platform installation and removal, diving, and other marine support services to the oil and gas industry in the Gulf of Mexico, West Africa, Asia Pacific, Middle East, India, South America, and Mexico's Bay of Campeche.

Institut Francais du Petrole (IFP)

Rueil-Malmaison, has named Van Bui Tran as director of its Technology, Computer Science, and Applied Mathematics Div., a new division created by merging the Technology Div. and the Scientific Computing and Applied Mathematics Div.

Bui Tran is an engineering graduate of the École des Mines of Paris, where he also earned a doctorate in automation and applied mathematics, and a graduate of the Institut d'Administration des Entreprises. He joined IFP in 1989.

IFP is an independent center for research and industrial development, education, professional training, and information for the oil, natural gas, and automotive industries.

Transocean Inc.

Houston, has announced the following senior management appointments: Robert L. Long as president and chief executive officer; Jean P. Cahuzac as executive vice-president and chief operating officer; Donald R. Ray as executive vice-president of quality, health, safety, and environment; Robert J. Scott as senior vice-president, operations; John W. Rouse as vice-president, engineering and construction; and Phillip M. Hall as vice-president, operations technical support.

Long, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, earned his MBA in finance from the Harvard Business School, and joined Transocean in 1975.

Cahuzac holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Ecoles des Mines, Saint-Etienne, France. He spent 20 years in various positions with Schlumberger, including president of Sedco Forex. Following the 1999 merger of Transocean Offshore Inc. and Sedco Forex, Cahuzac was named executive vice-president of the company.

Ray earned bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering at Texas A&M University, and joined Transocean as a research engineer in 1972.

Scott has been with Transocean since 1969, holding a variety of operating management positions.

Rouse is a graduate of the University of Houston, and completed coursework at Harvard Business School and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has served in various engineering roles since joining Transocean in 1975.

Hall earned a BS in civil engineering from Georgia Tech University, and completed Harvard University's executive management program. He has been with Transocean since 1978.

Transocean is a leading global offshore drilling contractor, with more than 150 full or partially owned and managed mobile offshore drilling units, inland drilling barges, and additional support assets.

Oslo, has appointed Svein Rennemo as chief executive officer, following the retirement of company founder Reidar Michaelsen. Rennemo has held senior management positions with Statoil ASA, Borealis Petrochemicals, and most recently with the consulting firm Econ Management.

Petroleum Geo-Services is a technologically focused oil field service company principally involved in geophysical seismic services, and production services. PGS acquires, processes, manages, and markets 3D, time-lapse, and multi-component seismic data. In its production services business, PGS owns four floating production, storage, and offloading systems, and operates numerous offshore production facilities for oil and gas companies.
