Houston, has acquired UK-based CleanCut Technologies and its patented offshore waste collection and transportation system. Formerly a division of Clyde Blowers Ltd. of Scotland, CleanCut designs, manufactures, and operates proprietary equipment and technology to transport drill cuttings from offshore rigs and platforms to onshore processing facilities.

M-I LLC

The acquired operations will be integrated into M-I's Swaco division, which has been the exclusive distributor for CleanCut since May 2000.

M-I LLC, owned 60% by Smith International Inc. and 40% by Schlumberger Ltd., is a leading supplier of drilling and completion fluid products/systems, services, and equipment to the worldwide petroleum industry. Swaco is a leading provider of pressure control, solids control, rig instrumentation, and waste management equipment and services for the worldwide petroleum drilling industry.

London, has appointed Euan Baird to its board of directors. Baird will succeed Sir Ralph Robins as chairman upon Robins' retirement in February 2003. John Rose will remain chief executive officer.

Baird attended Aberdeen University and Trinity College-Cambridge. He received an MA in geophysics from Cambridge, a DSc degree from Heriot-Watt University, and LLD degrees from Aberdeen University and Dundee University. He has had a 40-year career with Schlumberger Ltd., serving as chairman and chief executive officer since 1986.

Rolls-Royce plc operates in the civil aerospace, defense aerospace, marine, and energy markets, providing engines and related infrastructure. The company has energy customers in nearly 120 countries.

Turner Well Control Co.

Houston, is a new firm founded by Greg Turner, a construction company owner, and staffed by veteran well control specialists. The new company will provide their services using a fleet of specialized equipment to the worldwide oil and gas industry.

BJ Services Co.

Aberdeen, has appointed Andy Elliott as country operations manager-Indonesia for BJ Tubular Services. Originally from Leicester, England, Elliott is based in Jakarta. He previously was employed by Premier Oilfield Services, Aberdeen.

BJ Tubular Services, a unit of BJ Services Co., specializes in personnel and equipment for running casing and tubing, particularly premium connections, high chrome content tubulars, dual, triple, and subsea completions, as well as hammer conductor-driving services. BJ Services Co. is a leading provider of pressure pumping and related oil field services.

GE Oil & Gas

Abu Dhabi, has announced the opening of a new base of operations in Hassi Messaoud, Algeria. The center will support GE's installed base of more than 500 gas turbines and compressors in Algeria, most of which operate in the oil and gas sector.

GE Oil & Gas is a part of GE Power Systems, and has seen expansion of its business since the 1994 acquisition of Nuovo Pignone of Italy, a long-time global leader in gas compression and turbogeneration products. Other companies in the GE Oil & Gas family include Gemini Compressors, AC Compressor, Rotoflow, Conmec, and GE Packaged Power Odessa, all based in the US; Thermodyn of France; and PII Pipeline Solutions of the UK.

R&M Energy Systems

Houston, has appointed Michael D. Hambly as managing director of R&M Energy Systems Canada, Dean Rutledge as power section sales manager for Canada, and Gene Sparkman as general manager-Eastern Hemisphere and manager of R&M Energy Systems Europe.

Hambly is an engineering graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada, and completed postgraduate work in management at the Royal Navy Engineering College, England. He previously served with Tesco Corp., and most recently served as vice-president of EnerFlex Systems Ltd. Compression & Power Div., Calgary.

Rutledge formerly worked with Newsco, an independent directional drilling company.

Sparkman has over 25 years of artificial lift experience, most recently as operations manager-Eastern Hemisphere for Lufkin Industries.

R&M Energy Systems manufactures and markets a wide variety of products used in the discovery and recovery segments of the oil and gas industry. The company serves customers worldwide from its facilities in the US, Belgium, Venezuela, and Canada.

YZ Systems

Conroe, Tex., has named Mike McDougal as general manager. A graduate of the University of Houston, McDougal has 27 years of oil, gas and process industry experience.

Founded in 1949, YZ Systems is a global leader in the manufacture of sampling, chemical injection, and odorization systems. YZ is a United Technologies Co., organized under the Hamilton Sundstrand-Industrial Div., and financially reporting as a company of Milton Roy. The Milton Roy Co. is a leading manufacturer of chemical metering pumps.

Tiscor

San Diego, has named George McPhee to serve as director of environmental health & safety sales, spearheading the company's expansion of its EH&S software product offerings into the regulatory-driven leak detection and repair business. Additionally, he will expand offering of the company's line of fire and safety, security, preventive maintenance, and site inspection applications to facilities within the process industry, including oil and gas, refining, and petrochemical.

McPhee is a pioneering innovator of many products and services used to meet regulatory and business productivity requirements for data management and site communications.

Tiscor designs and develops software for hand-held computers, offering mobile workforce solutions for site and equipment inspections.
