New family of in-line process pumps

The new HWX family of in-line process pumps consists of 11 types referenced in API 610, 8th Edition (and upcoming 9th Edition), as OH3 (bearing frame), OH4 (rigid coupled), and OH5 (directly coupled) designs.

Pumps have only two bearing housing frames, bearing sets, and mechanical seal sizes for maximum parts interchangeability. Bearing housing designs cover a range of uses from –185° C. (–300° F.) to 400° C. (750° F.) and offer patented oil cascade, oil mist, or greased bearing lubrication options as required by service conditions. Other features include flexible disk spacer couplings, external fans for cooling or heating, API 682 mechanical seals, complete back pull-out design, and usability with NEMA, IEC, and existing field drivers (C-face and P-base).

The 10 complementary in-line designs within the family consist of single and two-stage low flow-high head OH3, OH4, and OH5 pumps; OH4 conventional and variable speed pumps up to 8,000 rpm: double suction impeller pumps; OH5 pumps including models with diffuser casings and replaceable volute inserts; and a magnetic drive model to API 685 design criteria. The HWX family provides hydraulics over a full range of flows to 2,850 cu m/hr (12,500 gpm) and heads to 850 m (2,800 ft) at temperatures to 400° C. (750°F.).

New gear lubricant

New PumpJack 150 gear lubricant in field tests shows that at temperatures of –51° C./–60° F. the lubricant helps ensure gearbox operability, reduce start-up torques, and lower amperage by 5%.

The product promises to increase pumpability while reducing motor torque, the company says.

Its load carrying characteristics help improve pumping performance. In addition, the lubricant protects the life of gearbox components by providing rust protection, reducing oil deposits, and improving cleanliness.

Valve operator suited to petrochemical operations

Light weight, portability, and versatility help suit the new RS-II rising stem valve operator to petrochemical operations.

The multifunctional hand-held unit will operate all rising and nonrising stem valves from 6 in. to 60 in. quickly and easily, the company says.

The RS-II mounts directly to a rising stem valve using a universal hand wheel adapter allowing for semi and permanent mount applications. By installing a simple drive adaptor, valve key, and socket, it will turn nonrising stem valves, the firm notes.

The unit's versatility offers speed for opening and closing valves requiring several hundred turns and also power for valves requiring increased torque and slower rotation.

It's available in hydraulic, pneumatic, or electric drive; features forward and reverse operation; offers variable speed control; and has a built-in easy view liquid crystal display counter.

New size added to hydraulic torque wrench

An expanded line of hydraulic square drive torque wrenches now offers an intermediate size designed to speed and simplify bolting and unbolting.

With a maximum torque of 5,570 ft-lb, and a weight of 11.9 lb, the new SQD-75-I provides a lightweight option for sockets sized 11/2-43/8 in.

The SQD series features a slim nose radius and 360° swivel hose connection, which allows easier positioning in confined areas.

Because of the pushbutton drive release, no tools are needed to reverse the square drive. Optional Allen-key drives are also available.

The series features a maximum torque of 19,900 ft-lb, a square drive range of 3/4 to 21/2 in., and a maximum operating pressure of 11,600 psi. All wrenches come standard with swivel couplers, a square drive, and reaction arm.

SQD series wrenches have a fully corrosion-resistant housing and they come with a storage case.
