Gabon

Vaalco Energy Inc., Houston, announced the first sale of oil from Etame field off Gabon and said a 3D seismic survey has begun in the Etame Marin Block.

The three-well field is producing 15,000 b/d. On Nov. 9-10, Shell Western Supply & Trading Ltd. lifted 693,000 bbl of 36° gravity oil onto the M/V Venetia. Some 200,000 bbl remain on the consortium's FPSO, and an additional lifting could occur by Nov. 30.

The MV Geco Diamond seismic vessel started data acquisition Nov. 8. Acquiring 355 sq km of data is expected to take 3 weeks.

Quicksilver Resources Inc., Fort Worth, said it could drill as many as 50 wells in 2003 to Devonian New Albany shale on its Corydon properties in the Illinois basin in Harrison County, Ind., and Meade County, Ky. (OGJ, Nov. 13, 2000, p. 40).

The company said it has successfully drilled 10 development and 4 exploratory wells this year on the properties. Another 6 wells are to be drilled by yearend, and drilling has slowed temporarily because gas flow has reached capacity in existing sales lines.

Quicksilver is pursuing an interstate connection that will accommodate increased flow anticipated from wells to be drilled next year

Louisiana

Goodrich Petroleum Corp, Houston, said production began Oct. 25 from an initial well on its Liston prospect at West Delta 83 field in Plaquemines Parish.

The State Lease 2227 No. 1 well was making 4.4 MMcfd of gas and 200 b/d of oil on a 10/64-in. choke with 4,575 psi from the MF sand, the deepest of three productive sands in the well.

Goodrich is the operator with 48% interest in the MF sand, and it owns a 65% interest in the other two sands.
