Berea, Ohio, has appointed Gerald M. Pierman as sales and marketing manager. Pierman is a graduate of Cleveland State University with a BBA in marketing, and held a variety of sales and management positions during his 29-year career with TW Metals/Williams & Co.

Zurich, Switzerland, has announced that Jürgen Dormann, chairman of the board, will assume operational leadership of the ABB Group as president and CEO.

Dormann also chairs the supervisory board of Aventis, the pharmaceutical group he formed.

ABB is a leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve performance while lowering environmental impacts. The ABB Group operates in more than 100 countries and employs about 150,000 people.

BJ Services Co.

Aberdeen, has appointed Ian Fraser as business development manager, Middle East and Asia Pacific region for BJ Process & Pipeline Services. Fraser joined BJ Services in 1996 when it acquired Nowsco, for whom he had worked internationally for 10 years.

Fraser is a graduate of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. In his new position, he will be based in Dubai, UAE.

Crane Valves North America

Signal Hill, Calif., has appointed Leonard Fruci as president, and Jim Stanczak as vice-president of marketing. Additionally, Tony Favilla has been named director of sales for Stockham and Jenkins products.

Fruci earned his bachelor's degree from Lafayette College, Easton, Pa., and an MBA from Georgia State University, Atlanta. He has 23 years of experience in the valve industry, and most recently served as vice-president of sales and product development with Flowserve Corp.'s Flow Control Div.

Stanczak holds bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering, as well as an MBA, from Tulane University. His marketing background includes positions at Invensys, Dresser Flow Control, and Diamond Offshore.

Crane Valves North America, a part of the Crane Co., manufactures and sells a variety of valve products and related services.

Crane Co., headquartered in Stamford, Conn., is a diversified manufacturer of engineered industrial products. Founded in 1855, Crane employs over 9,000 people in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

JDR Cable Systems

Ely, UK, has announced the appointment of Oscar Eide as general manager for JDR Cable Systems (Norway) AS, based in Bergen. Eide has experience with several Norwegian service companies within the oil and gas industry.

Dallas, has appointed Brian White as vice-president of reengineering. White earned a bachelor's degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England, and joined Dresser in 1998, after service with Sperry-Sun Drilling Services, Orbit Controls, and Caterpillar.

Paris, has announced the appointment of Olivier DuBois as senior executive vice-president, finance and control. DuBois is a graduate of Essec Business School and Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, with a degree in economics. His experience includes work at Banque Paribas, and Spie group.
