OmanPetroleum Development Oman said it found a major gas field, possibly the largest discovery in Oman in the last 6 years, about 50 km south of Adam in the Al Dakhiliyah region.Kauther-1 cut a thick interval of gas-bearing sandstone at 4,200 m. PDO will run tests and conduct a seismic survey over nearby acreage.PakistanOMV AG's Pakistan unit started up Miano gas field in the Thar desert 62 km southeast of Sukkur, aiming for production of close to 100 MMcfd by end-January 2002.Gas is delivered to Sui Southern Gas Co.
