Jalalabad field on Block 13 averaged 83 MMcfd of gas and 1,000 b/d of liquids in 2001, including 55 MMcfd and 700 b/d net to Unocal Bangladesh Ltd., the operator.

Bangladesh

Jalalabad field on Block 13 averaged 83 MMcfd of gas and 1,000 b/d of liquids in 2001, including 55 MMcfd and 700 b/d net to Unocal Bangladesh Ltd., the operator.

The field supplied 12% of domestic gas demand.

Government entities are considering a gas export plan Unocal submitted in 2001 (OGJ Online, Dec. 7, 2001). The proposal is for construction of a 1,363-mile, 30-in., 500 MMcfd overland pipeline from Bibiyana field on Block 12 to New Delhi, India.

Unocal also discovered and operates Moulavi Bazar gas field on Block 14 (OGJ, Apr. 22, 2002, p. 48).

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Aramco let a contract to Petroleum Geo-Services ASA, Oslo, to gather more than 1,000 sq km of data over Zuluf and Abu Sa'fah offshore producing oil fields.

PGS will acquire high-resolution two-component and four-component seafloor surveys to characterize the producing reservoirs and identify potential deeper targets. It will also process the data.

In a recent 1,500 sq km survey over Zakum oil field off the United Arab Emirates, PGS operated without incident around 210 wellhead towers, three super complexes, three satellite platforms, and hundreds of kilometers of untrenched pipelines, the contractor said.

Alaska

The US Minerals Management Service sought expressions of public interest in receiving copies of multichannel seismic reflection data acquired in 1975 in the St. George basin, Kodiak shelf, northwestern Gulf of Alaska, and Norton Sound.

The MMS office in Anchorage has details of the surveys, conducted by Delta Exploration Co. Inc., Geophysical Service Inc., and Digicon Geophysical Corp.

Ohio

Operators drilled 677 wells in the state in calendar 2001, up 113 wells from the previous year, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mineral Resources reported.

Of the total, 380 targeted Silurian Clinton, 117 Cambrian Rose Run, and 53 Cambrian Trempealeau.

Oil production averaged 16,574 b/d, down 8% from 2001, and gas output averaged 269 MMcfd, down .33%.

Texas South

The Exploration Co., San Antonio, acquired Pena Creek field in Dimmit County from Merit Energy Co., Houston.

The field consists of 94 producing wells and 94 injectors in three waterflood units with 1.4 million bbl of proved reserves and producing 300 b/d of oil from Cretaceous San Miguel at 3,200 ft.

The property is on trend to be productive from deeper Cretaceous Glen Rose, and the company plans to extend its Comanche lease seismic survey to the Pena Creek acreage in third quarter 2002. It will also infill drill the San Miguel.
