New modular stream switching system

This new valve system is designed for automated stream switching in gas and liquid analysis applications.

The new R-max uses surface-mounting techniques to help reduce the size of control systems for process analyzers and gas chromatographs and to provide modularity for assembling compact switches for any volume of fluid streams.

The pneumatically operated unit promises reliability and integrity via use of three-way double-block-and-bleed valve modules that eliminate cross contamination of fluid streams, combined with needle valves offering operating lifetimes of more than 1 million cycles.

The system operates over a vacuum to 500 psig-34 bar pressure range and may be actuated using a low air pressure supply of 40 psig-3 bar. Systems are based on three basic components: valve modules, substrates housing the stream switching channels, and a venting unit. These interconnect using two screws, allowing the number of streams to be extended without breaking the connections throughout the substrate.

Parker also offers compatible filter modules, which bolt onto the side of the stream switching substrate without any intermediate tubing and compression connections.

Ultrasonic sensors work in harsh environments

New US20 self-contained ultrasonic sensors feature reliability, user adjustable, require little or no maintenance, and are easy to install.

They promise to function well in harsh environments, the firm says. Units can detect presence, level, volume, proximity, and distance measurements, suiting them for automation, collision avoidance, equipment positioning, tank measurement and control, and environmental monitoring.

They provide a sensing range from 1 ft to 20 ft, work on solids or liquids, and provide digital, analog, and trip point outputs.

Sensors are serial interface programmable with free software for Windows, DOS, or Palm operating systems. AutoSense software and internal temperature compensation neutralize variables such as ambient temperature, tank irregularities, and humidity to provide accurate and reliable readings.

New line of single gas monitors

New Solus monitors expand this firm's single gas portable instrument line.

The Solus-II is maintenance free for 2 years and detects oxygen, hydrogen sulfide, or carbon monoxide.

The Solus-XP detects combustible gases.

The Solus-Plus has field changeable sensors for easy switching between gases (Cl2, CO, H2, H2S, HCN, NO2, 02, or S02) and comes standard with data logging and a vibrating alarm. Typical uses for the Solus products are oil and gas production and petrochemical operations.

Solus products are easy to operate and require a minimum amount of user training, the firm says. Monitors feature audible and visual alarms, compact, durable, lightweight, small size, RFI protection, and certification as intrinsically safe.
