Baker Botts LLP

Houston, has announced that Michael P. Darden has rejoined the firm as a partner in its Houston office, where he will be a member of the oil and gas practice group.

Darden received his BBA degree from the University of Texas, his JD from the University of Houston Law Center, and expects to receive his MBA from Rice University in May this year.

Atlanta, Ga., has completed its acquisition of PII Group Ltd. from HgCapital of the UK. The PII acquisition is the latest expansion of GE Power Systems' growing portfolio of technology and services for the oil and gas industry. PII is a leading provider of pipeline in-line inspection and integrity management services.

GE Power Systems is one of the world's leading suppliers of power generation technology, energy services, and management systems.

Harris Group Inc.

Denver, has promoted Bill Ward to operations director, energy; and Mike Burns to director, oil and gas.

Ward, located in the firm's Denver office, has been with Harris Group for 12 years. His new duties include project management policies and procedures, leadership of quality assurance and control, and project sponsorship of power, and oil and gas projects across the country.

Burns, who joined Harris Group in 2001, has more than 30 years of experience in the gas transmission business. He will be based in the firm's Colorado Springs office.

Modec (USA) Inc.

Houston, has signed a contract to acquire the assets of Friede & Goldman Ltd., a pioneer company in the field of offshore vessel design. Over 100 mobile offshore units designed by Friede & Goldman Ltd. are in operation today.

Modec is a leading provider of floating production systems, as well as its unique Moses design tension leg platform.
