New heatless desiccant compressed air dryer

The new Hydrobloc HB Series heatless desiccant compressed air dryer features maintenance-free shuttle valves, high efficiency coalescing prefilter, and particulate removal afterfilter.

The optional -100° F. dew point package provides ultradry air for compressed air applications.

The maker says the key to the reliability of its dryer is the proprietary shuttle valve. Specially designed to meet the operating demands of continuous-service desiccant dryers, the switching valve has only one moving part and requires no lubrication.

The nonlubricated switching valve works in conjunction with two solenoid-operated purge valves.

The valve design and use of noncorroding materials of construction help ensure reliable switching for the life of the dryer.

Dryers are available in 17 models rated at 55-3,250 scfm. Free Bulletin 330_b provides more information.

Sleeved plug valve brochure

A new 20-page technical brochure, yours free for the asking, describes a new line of Tufline sleeved plug valves.

The brochure describes, through a series of photos, drawings, schematics, charts, and graphs, the design developments that have gone into this valve family.

Close-up illustrations demonstrate the valve's dual stem sealing capability, its 360

Ultrasonic units provide 32 ft sensing range

These easy-to-install US32 self-contained ultrasonic sensors provide a sensing range from 1 ft to 32 ft, work on solids or liquids, and feature analog, digital, and trip point outputs. Also they are user- adjustable and serial-interface programmable with free software for Windows, DOS, or Palm operating systems.

This firm's AutoSense software and internal temperature compensation factor in and eliminate variables such as ambient temperature, waves on a liquid, tank irregularities, agitators, and humidity. This aids accurate flow, level, volume, proximity, and distance measurements in a variety of applications. Sensors are not affected by target surface, color, or translucency, and they function well in harsh environments, the company notes.

When monitoring liquids, they are not affected by changes in dielectric constant, specific gravity, or viscosity.

New monitoring devices for reciprocating compressors

The 3500/72M rod position monitor and the 3500/77M cylinder pressure monitor have been added to a range of reciprocating compressor monitoring products.

The 72M uses correlative measurements to confirm whether excessive movement is due to other problems such as crosshead looseness or rod runout.

The 77M uses permanently installed pressure transducers located on each chamber of the cylinder, collecting pressure data along with crankshaft position to obtain continuous and performance data.

On-line access to the internal pressure for each cylinder on the compressor provides information on the condition of the valves, piston rings, packing glands, and the crosshead pin.

New dry screw vacuum pump

A new Kinney KDPH-120 dry screw vacuum pump features a variable pitch screw design. The company says its unit uses 30% less power than other dry screw pumps and generates lower process gas discharge temperatures without cooling purges.

Oil and water are never in contact with the process gases and there is no metal-to-metal contact between operating parts. This design with C-face motor connection can handle process by-products such as liquids, condensate, and small particles. Compact in size, the unit has a short gas path through the pump for quick discharge.
