Robert G. Slaughter has been elected president of the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association. Currently, Slaughter serves as NPRA's general counsel and director of public policy.

NPRA appoints Slaughter new president

Robert G. Slaughter has been elected president of the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association. Currently, Slaughter serves as NPRA's general counsel and director of public policy. He succeeds Urvan R. Sternfels, who will retire Apr. 1 after serving 31 years with the association, 21 years of which as its president.

Slaughter has served for 3 years in his current capacity for NPRA. Previously, he served as director, federal relations, for the former Amoco Corp. Prior to that, he served as top aide to former Sen., Rep., and Ambassador Bob Krueger.

Don Stanutz has been named executive vice-president and chief operating officer of Huntsman Corp., Salt Lake City. Most recently, Stanutz served as senior vice-president, global sales and marketing, and was based in Everberg, Belgium.

Stanutz joined Huntsman in 1994 following the company's acquisition of Texaco Chemical Co., where he had worked for 21 years.

Glen L. Kettering, president of Columbia Gas Transmission Corp., Fairfax, Va., has been appointed to the additional position of president of Columbia Gulf Transmission Co., Houston. Kettering succeeds former Pres. Terrance L. McGill, who left Columbia Gulf to pursue other opportunities.

Kettering has more than 23 years of experience in the natural gas pipeline industry. He joined Columbia Gas in 1979 as a lawyer and has held numerous positions, including senior vice-president, marketing, rates, transportation, and exchange.

Separately, James W. Hart, Jr., and Rene P. Dartez have been promoted to senior vice-president positions for Columbia Gulf.

Hart joined Columbia Gulf in April 1996 as vice-president, commercial services. He has 30 years of experience in the natural gas pipeline industry. Before joining the company, Hart held numerous positions with Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America and worked in several executive positions with MidCon Corp. and United Texas Transmission Co.

Dartez joined the company in February 1997 as vice-president, strategic and financial planning. Prior to that, Dartez served as vice-president, finance, for Louisiana Interstate Gas Co. LLC, Pineville, La.

Upstream moves

Frank Jacobs has been named president and CEO of Vancouver, BC-based Trans-Orient Petroleum Ltd. Jacobs comes to Trans-Orient with more than 25 years of experience, most recently holding executive positions with independent exploration companies with core areas in Southeast Asia, including Perth-based Anzoil NL (OGJ, July 24, 2000, p. 34).

"We believe that the timing is right and opportunities exist to build our operations in the Southeast Asia region," said Alex Guidi, Trans-Orient chairman.

Robert S. Wynne has been appointed chief financial officer of PanOcean Energy Corp. Ltd., St. Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands, UK. Wynne has 15 years of experience in international investment banking. Before entering the banking field, Wynne worked in a number of oil and gas technical and administrative positions.

Thomas F. Conroy has been named chief financial officer of Teton Petroleum Co., Steamboat Springs, Colo. Prior to joining Teton, Conroy served as senior vice-president for ING Group NV, Amsterdam, during 1974-2001. During 1959-74, Conroy worked for Ernst & Young LLP.

Kenneth M. Jasinski has been elected executive vice-president and chief financial officer of Energy East Corp., Albany, NY. Previously, Jasinski was executive vice-president, general counsel, and secretary of the company. He joined Energy East when the firm was formed in April 1998.

Noble Affiliates Inc., Houston, has appointed three executives to new positions.

Richard A. Peneguy Jr., vice-president and division manager, onshore division, since 2000, has assumed the position of vice-president and division manager for the company's offshore division responsible for all Gulf of Mexico shelf and deepwater operations.

Peneguy joined the company in 1978 as a landman, becoming land manager in 1981 and an onshore division general manager in 1994.

Ted A. Price, manager, onshore exploration, will succeed Peneguy as vice-president and division manager, onshore division.

Price joined the company in 1981 as a geologist and began serving as manager, onshore exploration, in 1999.

Robert K. Burleson, president of Noble Gas Marketing Inc., (NGM) has assumed the additional responsibilities of Noble corporate vice-president, business administration. The position includes all marketing activities as well as human resources and administration functions.

Burleson joined NGM as vice-president in 1994 and became president in 1995.

Other moves

Energy distribution company Southern Union Co. has promoted James H. Oglesby to president and chief operating officer of its Missouri Gas Energy (MGE) division.

Oglesby joined MGE in 1968 as a service technician. Since then, he has held several positions of increasing responsibility in the operations area, including vice-president, operations, and was named MGE chief operating officer in September.

Susan Glasmann and Alan Allred were named senior vice-presidents for Questar Regulated Services (QRS), a subsidiary of Questar Corp., Salt Lake City. Glasmann had been vice-president, operations, and Allred, vice-president, business development.

QRS comprises retail gas distribution utility Questar Gas Co., interstate gas transmission and storage company Questar Pipeline Co., retail marketer Questar Energy Services, and holding company Questar Regulated Services.
