New BOP stacking array

A new blowout preventer stack comes with an interchangeable lower marine rise package and lower stack frames.

The new stacking solution allows rigs with two BOPs to use a lower marine rise package with either lower stack frame, helping enhance operator flexibility. The new system also gives operators the option of having a fleet spare that can interface with other systems, the firm points out.

Safety software available

The SafetyNet app for Android is now available for download on Google Play.

Existing customers of the company can install the app on their Android phone or tablet and use it to collect their work place safety observations.

SafetyNet is designed to save lives by predicting work place injuries. It is a safety software solution that automates the collection of work place safety data and performs advanced and predictive analytics to identify trends that can affect workers' safety. With their highest risk areas identified by SafetyNet, customers can predict where injuries are likely to occur and then proactively prevent them.

The Android app helps make it easier for companies to collect the data that fuels the advanced and predictive analytics of SafetyNet. The easy-to-use app drives an increased number of inspections while improving the quality of observations. By removing the manual data entry steps associated with paper-based observations, companies get inspection results faster, allowing teams to be more productive. SafetyNet is also available on most BlackBerry devices, and is available for download on the App Store for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

New fixed cutter drillbit

New MegaForce advanced fixed cutter drillbits feature technology innovations in cutting structure and matrix material, multilevel force balancing, hydraulics, and shank length that are designed to deliver more than a 20% improvement in penetration rates.

Field trials revealed penetration rate and reliability improvements over current fixed cutter bit offerings, the company says. In Uintah County, Utah, and in Leon, Upton, and Wheeler counties, Tex., field records were set during each MegaForce bit run, the firm notes. Drilling 18-31% more footage, MegaForce bits demonstrated at least 20% increases in rate of penetration over offset wells. Following each run, MegaForce bits were graded equal to or sharper than offset bits, the company points out.
