New drilling rig

The new SELRig drilling rig features a fully automated walking system manufactured to fit inside the subboxes, adding no extra loads during shipment. This allows the complete substructure, including walking system, independent rotary drive, and all flooring and handrails, to be shipped in three compact loads.

Additionally it has been designed to ship preassembled and in modules that do not require cranes or pole trucks to assemble.

The walking system is self-leveling per side using hydraulic cylinders. The system offers 360o of movement, at the speed of 1 fpm without having to rig down. The design allows for the walking system to be an option with your purchase; the substructure contains adaptors and module holes for a later retrofit of the walking system. Units are available at 1,000-2,000 hp, AC or DC ratings.

The only gear needed to set up is a rig ramp designed for the drilling rig to load the drawworks, center steel, and bottom mast sections onto sub. The mast ships in three loads with top drive, service loops, lights, block, and mast-raising cylinders all integrated into the mast. This system also allows for most assembly to be done from ground level before hoisting.

It offers the option to use diesel/natural gas mix generators, which help reduce diesel consumption by as much as 70% as well as lowering emissions, the company points out.

The SELRig features a built-in fluid containment system, does not require cable trays, and requires less cleared area due to less large equipment being needed. Rigs can be requested in a winterized package to withstand –50o F. temperatures and winds to as high as 110 mph.

New harness has front D-ring

This workman harness comes with a new front D-ring option for climbing and descent applications.

The harness is vertically oriented for easy connection to climbing systems. The maker says its harnesses provide comfortable and economical fall protection with lightweight components and durable, abrasion-resistant, yellow polyester webbing.
