Oil field treatment alternative to activated carbon

A new service program alternative to activated carbon is called EnviroHPA Systems, and it features a range of ultrahigh performing adsorbent media in systems designed, guaranteed, and operated by this firm under multiyear agreements.

The oil field system aids removal and recovery of select organics from waste water, groundwater, and vapor phase streams.

The company says that improved performance is seen in smaller footprint systems that can handle a variety of organic contaminants with control and a minimum of system upsets. This is a service in which system design and installation, media costs, regeneration, and disposal are charged as an operating fee over the life of the system. They can be offered with low- to no-capital investment, guaranteed performance, and predictable costs over the service life of the installation. Savings with EnviroHPA Systems can approach 50% when compared with traditional activated carbon systems in high volume applications, the company says.

Company receives IECEx certification for its buildings

Specialist Services Group, Dubai, UAE, an engineering and manufacturing company providing modular buildings to the industry for onshore and offshore applications, has received the IECEx certification for purged and pressurized buildings.

IECEx is the certification program of the International Electrotechnical Commission, Geneva.

The firm's pressurized building is a module specifically manufactured to meet international or industrial codes and standards. It creates a safe working environment in a potentially explosive or hazardous atmosphere classified as Zone 1 or 2, which are often seen in onshore and offshore installations.

The IECEx standard facilitates the international trade of equipment used in explosive atmospheres, while maintaining the required level of safety. IECEx certificates are typically issued for components, and this is the first time that an integrated product—a purged and pressurized building containing 35 IECEx components, has been issued a Certificate of Conformity, the firm notes.

The company's first IECEx compliant module is already in production and plans call for it to be deployed to the Gulf of Mexico by yearend.
