Statoil lets rig contracts for exploration offshore Brazil

Statoil ASA said it has let rig contracts for offshore exploration in the BM-S-8 license area in Brazil’s Santos basin.

Statoil ASA said it has let rig contracts for offshore exploration in the BM-S-8 license area in Brazil’s Santos basin.

The work includes one exploration well at the Guanxuma prospect and one drillstem test on the Carcara discovery (OGJ Online, July 12, 2017).

Seadrill Offshore AS will provide the drillship West Saturn, which is equipped to drill in as much as 12,000 ft of water. Seadrill Servicos de Petroleo Ltda. will provide services on board.

The contracts include options for seven more exploration wells. Commencement date for the contracts is expected in late 2017 or early 2018.
