The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority authorized Statoil’s plans to use subsea facilities serving Sigyn field in production license 072 in the North Sea. Production from Sigyn, which contains gas, condensate, and light oil, came on stream in 2002 via a subsea well template (OGJ Online, Dec. 30, 2002).

Production goes to the Sleipner A platform about 8 miles northwest of the well template. Sigyn is in 229 ft of water.

ExxonMobil Corp.’s Norwegian subsidiary Esso Exploration & Production Norway AS is operator for the gas and condensate field. Statoil holds a 50% interest in the field and was responsible for part of the development, including drilling, subsea operations, and modification work on its Sleipner A platform. Esso holds 40% interest and Norsk Hydro AS 10%.
