Egdon Resources PLC, Odiham, UK, is fighting for approval to develop Wressle oil field in the Yorkshire and the Humber region of England.

The company said it will appeal a Jan. 11 rejection of its original application by the North Lincolnshire County Council’s Planning Committee after the committee on July 3 also rejected a supplemental planning application.

Egdon said the parallel application provided additional information and addressed concerns raised in the earlier rejection.

Wressle development would not use hydraulic fracturing, which has met local resistance in the UK.

Egdon drilled the Wressle-1 discovery to 2,240 m TD in 2014. After completing the well with a 4½-in. liner, the company tested oil and gas at a combined rate of 710 boe/d from Carboniferous Ashover Grit, Wingfield Flags, and Penistone Flags intervals in 2015.

The field is in Petroleum Exploration and Development License 180, which Egdon operates with a 25% interest. Other interest holders are Celtique Energie, London; Europa Oil & Gas Ltd., London; and Union Jack Oil PLC, Bath. A subsidiary of Upland Resources Ltd., registered in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, has conditionally agreed to acquire part of Europa’s interest.
