Trimble assumes Stone Energy’s interim CEO post as Welch retires

James M. Trimble has been elected Lafayette, La.-based Stone Energy Corp.’s interim chief executive officer and president, effective immediately. He succeeds David H. Welch, who is retiring.

Keith Seilhan, formerly the company’s senior vice-president, Gulf of Mexico, also has been appointed chief operating officer.

Trimble has more than 35 years of energy industry experience. He was president and chief executive officer of PDC Energy Inc. during 2011-15. Earlier in his career, he founded and led several private oil and gas firms focused mainly on drilling in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. He also served as senior vice-president, exploration and production, for Cabot Oil & Gas Corp. for 17 years.

Seilhan was named Stone Energy senior vice-president, Gulf of Mexico, in January 2015 and vice-president, deep water, in February 2013. He previously served as deepwater projects manager beginning in July 2012. Prior to joining Stone Energy, he filled various senior leadership and operations roles for Amoco Corp. and BP PLC over his 21-year career with those companies.
