Statoil ASA has let a contract worth $722.6 million to Kvaerner for upgrades to the Njord A platform (OGJ Online, Aug. 26, 2016).
The Njord A platform was towed to Kvaerner’s yard in Stord last August and moved into dry dock in December.
The platform will stay in dry dock until fall for extension and reinforcement of the hull. It will then lie alongside the quay for further reinforcement and upgrading work. According to the plan, the platform will be towed to the field in the Norwegian Sea and ready to resume production by yearend 2020.
The Njord A platform was delivered in September 1997. The upgrading project is known as Njord Future.
The engineering, procurement, and construction contract with Kvaerner evolved from a framework agreement signed in April 2016.
Partners in the project include operator Statoil 20%, Engie E&P Norge AS 40%, DEA Norge AS 30%, Faroe Petroleum 7.5%, and VNG 2.5%.
