PJSC Lukoil is seeking to develop an improved reservoir model of the Mishrif formation in West Qurna-2 field in Iraq.

The company said it has applied innovative technologies for examination of core samples for improved understanding of reservoir porosity and permeability. In turn, that should lead to better efficiency in the field’s development.

West Qurna-2 is 65 km northwest of Basra (OGJ Online, Aug. 20, 2014).

Lukoil said it has paired for the first time mercury porosimetry with capillarimetric surveys in oil-water reservoir conditions.

The surveys will be completed in the third quarter.
